Opportunity description

UNV offers an online volunteering opportunity to support legal aid research in India. UNDP is a co-sponsor of the United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS, and as such, under the UNAIDS division of labor, it will provide the necessary support for reforms in Laws and policies which will participate in increasing access to services for key HIV-infected populations, with a strong focus on disease prevention, and will also contribute to reducing human rights violations, inequality, exclusion, stigma and discrimination experienced by key HIV-infected populations.

Duties & responsibilities

You will be responsible for:
  • Discuss and define search criteria.
  • Identify and collect sources.
  • Conduct the research
  • Fill the table with search answers.
  • The estimated average workload is expected to include reviewing approximately 5-7 documents (this could include articles, studies, etc.) over the entire duration.
  • You will be expected to use these documents to deliver the following deliverables in the following areas:
    • General information
    • Legal assistance
    • Legal assistants
    • Community paralegals
    • Mapping known organizations

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • Strong research and analysis skills.
  • Experience in law, legislative issues, political and social sciences and human rights in the chosen country.
  • Strong proficiency in legal analysis procedures.
  • Preferably have experience with legal assistance to community members and key populations.
  • Degree in any of the relevant fields (law; international development; political, social or human sciences; governance; international relations).
  • Good level of English.
  • Preferably, you should be fluent in Hindi.
