Opportunity description
UNV offers an online volunteering opportunity to support the UNDP Regional Center in Bangkok, through production surveys. UNDP provides support services to governments and the private sector in developing transparent solutions that contribute to achieving sustainable development in the region. The UNDP Bangkok Regional Center (BRH) is responsible for implementing regional projects and providing advisory services to the program's 24 country offices in Asia and the Pacific. A regional survey was launched in August on judicial integrity and court excellence in which the program asked judges from ASEAN countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, etc.) to share their views on the level of integrity within their legal systems. Thanks to the active participation of judges, the program has now received such a large number of responses that the results of that survey will be presented during the next ASEAN Judicial Integrity Network regional meeting, scheduled from 5 to 6 October. This conference will bring together experienced judges and legal experts from across ASEAN countries, to foster discussions on future strategies to support judicial integrity and facilitate the exchange of best practices. Realizing the importance of this conference, the program considers it an ideal platform for disseminating the survey results. Therefore, it is seeking the help of an online volunteer to create a report based on the results of this survey.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Compilation of the results of the JIN ASEAN Regional Survey on Judicial Integrity and Judicial Excellence into a concise and informative report.
- The overarching objective of this survey is to assess how UNDP can provide enhanced support to judicial authorities in their endeavors to enhance transparency and integrity within the judicial sector.
- The ideas collected through this survey will have various practical and research applications.
- The survey consists of 20 questions covering a variety of topics, including judicial independence, transparency and accountability within the judicial sector, the appointment and promotion of judges, and the judicial decision-making process. Your key responsibilities will also include:
- Survey Analysis: Dive into survey responses from judges across ASEAN, extracting valuable insights regarding their perceptions of judicial integrity.
- Draft a summary report that provides a comprehensive overview of judicial integrity within ASEAN countries, based on the data collected.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Writing and analysis skills.
- Academic degree and professional experience in any relevant field.
- Experience in editing and proofreading UN documents and familiarity with the UNDP and the UN Editorial Manual.
- Ability to produce high-quality and timely inputs and outputs.
- Organization and management skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to prepare good reports.
- Working knowledge of English.
- Fluency in Thai language.
- Preferably, you should be fluent in Vietnamese and Indonesian.
