Opportunity description
The United Nations Volunteers Program is offering an online volunteer opportunity to support the United Nations Development Program in the field of communications and outreach. The Gender and Crisis Unit hopes to increase the dissemination and accessibility of its work through regular updating of key communication materials and guidance and counseling tools that will be uploaded to its website, as well as publishing a quarterly newsletter that seeks to promote information-sharing on key developments related to gender through the United Nations Development Program and through the various stakeholders and partners of the United Nations Development Program. In this opportunity, you will work with other team members in the unit, relevant experts in the Crisis Office, the UNDP Gender Equality Team, and colleagues across UNDP Country Offices and Regional Hubs and will report to the Gender and Crisis Team Leader.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Develop communication materials and upload them to the website.
- Evaluate and standardize collected material to be available on the website.
- Consolidation of key information provided during webinars and gatherings organized by the unit, in partnership with the Crisis Office.
- Support further knowledge enhancement across all relevant knowledge networks and dedicated websites.
- Communicate with the unit staff to develop the content of the newsletter.
- Identify key and new partnerships to ensure effective sharing of information.
- Ensure the inclusion of relevant innovative and digital materials related to the work of the unit.
- Support the development and dissemination of guidance and counseling tools and materials.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- At least 5 years of experience in communications/journalism and/or management-related experience, preferably at an international level.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Strong speaking skills.
- Editing and writing skills for technical and non-technical materials and social media content.
- Comprehensive work experience in the communications/media field, which includes digital communications with media and social media.
- Teamwork skills.
- Flexibility and cooperation in work with the ability to build supportive relationships with colleagues and partners and coordinate with each other in different regions of the world.
- Comprehensive knowledge of gender and development issues.
- Proficiency in English.
