Online Volunteer Opportunities in the Field of ​International Sign Language Interpretation at UN Volunteer

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) invites experienced online volunteers to 10 volunteer opportunities. This gives you the opportunity to support the onboarding workshop of UN Volunteers by translating the workshop into international sign language. As part of its disability inclusion strategy, the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program aims to build a talent pipeline of qualified professionals with disabilities who can contribute to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at national and global levels, with a focus on national capacity. 

You will be responsible for: 

1. Provide International Sign Language Interpretation Services for the hearing impaired/deaf members of the UNV onboarding workshop.
2.  Interpret facilitators' and participants’ comments, questions, tasks, etc. to deaf participants' voices to sign.
3. Translate/interpret communication products in sign language used during the workshop.
4.  Interpret deaf participants’ comments, questions, and responses to the facilitator and participants' sign to voice.
5.  Interpret for deaf participants during plenary sessions and group tasks at the workshop.

You must be:

• Proficient and fluent in using international sign language and English.
• Able to translate spoken language (English) into international sign language and vice versa. 
• Previous professional experience in translation into sign language is preferred.
• Available for the full workshop (exact time and date).
• Have access to a stable internet connection and a laptop with a camera.
