Opportunity description

United Nations Volunteers programme is offering a volunteer opportunity: Geographical Data Annotation for illegal dumpsites.

Duration:

2 weeks / 11 - 15 hours

Duties & responsibilities

  • The online volunteers will assist SDG AI LAB in data annotation for illegal dumpsites.
  • The online volunteers are expected to annotate and validate up to several hundred locations of illegal dumpsites in Guatemala.
  • This will be done using QGIS and freely available google maps base layers.

Eligibility criteria

Required experience:

  • Bachelor’s (or higher) in Computer Science, Environmental Engineering, Geomatics, Geography, Statistics, or related field with strong interest in Remote Sensing and satellite image interpretation
  • Experience in working with geodata.

Languages: 

  • English, Level: Basic, Desirable
