Filmfreeway announces the Open Gate International Film Festival (OGIFF), which aims to showcase the best short and feature films from across New England and the world. Believing in the concept of assisting and nurturing "up-and-coming filmmakers" who bring the essence of bold and diverse filmmaking around the world, the festival seeks to showcase many distinguished works to an audience filled with a strong passion for filmmaking in the heart of Boston. The festival is currently accepting short and feature film scripts for the first annual Open Gate Screenwriting Competition. The Open Gate competition will give creative writers and visionaries a wide range of opportunities to connect with professional filmmakers, writers, actors, and producers who share a common passion for participating in films. The best entries in the two competition categories (Best Short Screenplay and Best Featured Screenplay) will be announced in the live awards show during the festival.

- A set of prizes for additional categories will also be added based on submissions.
Eligibility criteria
- The contest reserves the right to move challenges from one category to another as it sees fit.
- All filmmakers and attendees must respect the films, staff, and other directors as disruptive or unprofessional behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
- None of the participants will be exempted from the participation fee under any circumstances.
- Please follow the competition updates first as it changes first.
- All films will be judged according to the genre in which they were submitted.
- All works selected for the festival must be available in any format other than DCP as not all theaters are equipped to play DCP files, especially independent venues, so there is a high probability that the judges will not be able to scrutinize them.
- Content that contains or advocates hate or violence will not be allowed, and this includes intolerance of all kinds such as racism, homophobia, and religious intolerance.
- All subjects/types of participation are welcome to apply for this opportunity except for pornography.
- Please contact the competition before submitting, if you have any questions about the eligibility of your work or if you need an exception to any rule (film length, for example), as the entry fee will not be refunded for ineligible works.
- Allowed works include film narrations, documentaries, animation, internet content, and even music videos. Internet content includes any video produced specifically for viewing over the Internet.
- Entries may also include webisodes, clips, vlogs, or short films. Entries can be produced at any time as there are no restrictions on the production date of the Entries.
- Works produced by persons under the age of 18 must be submitted by a representative/authorized (parent/etc.) who is 18 years of age or older.
- Entrants by submitting to this competition represent that they have all legal rights to the entry work, that they are either the copyright holders or legally represent the copyright holders of the entry work, and that the content (dialogue, music, etc.) is either their own or they have obtained all necessary rights and permissions, and the entrant agrees to assume all liability for damages resulting from the public display of the work, including without limitation all legal fees associated with copyright infringement claims or contract disputes.
- Inquiries/requests sent by mail must include the film actor's name, film title, any tracking or identification number, and all relevant contact information including a physical mailing address.
