Opportunity description
Swansea University offers a fully funded PhD scholarship which will award within the research project entitled; Tests of Quantum Gravity with Gravitational Waves. The project will develop tests of fundamental theories of gravity, such as string theory, using gravitational waves, focusing on the science of the Einstein Telescope. In particular, it will focus on how gravity is modified in these theories at the highest scales, and how these modifications can be tested using gravitational waves (GW).

Eligibility criteria
You should follow the following criteria:
- Candidates must normally hold an undergraduate degree at 2.1 level or a master’s degree with a minimum overall grade at ‘Merit’ (or Non-UK equivalent).
- This scholarship is open to candidates of any nationality.
- English Language requirements: IELTS 6.5 Overall (with no individual component below 6.0) or Swansea recognized equivalent.
- The mode of study is full-time.
- Project start date: 1 October 2023 (Enrolment open from mid-September).
- International students will not be charged the fee difference between the UK and international rate.
