Competition for Filmmakers and a Chance to Win Cash Prizes

Filmfreeway invites you to a film competition that will be launched through the events of the Port Townsend Film Festival in its 24 edition. It aims to spark community by connecting filmmakers and film lovers through a hybrid festival that will include in-person screenings and events opening weekend, September 21-24, and virtual screenings on September 25-October 1. Share your work and you will have amazing prizes.

If your work is among the winning ones, you will have one of the following prizes:

• Best Narrative Feature $2,500 cash prize
• Best Documentary Feature $2,500 cash prize
• Jim Ewing First Feature Award $1,000 cash prize
• Best Short Narrative
• Best Short Documentary
• Special Jury Recognitions awarded at the discretion of the jury
• Spirit Award to a film capturing the essence of the unique celebration
• Audience Choice is awarded in 4 categories:
• Narrative Feature
• Documentary Feature
• Short Narrative
• Short Documentary

To be eligible for PTFF 2023, you must follow the following:

• Grant permission for two in-person screenings Sep 21-24, 2023.
• Grant permission for virtual festival screening Sep 25-Oct 1, 2023.
• Supply DCP to PTFF through CineSend upload for in-person screenings.
• Supply MP4 to PTFF through Eventive upload for virtual screenings.
• Non-English films must be subtitled.
• Closed Captioning is encouraged.
• Submissions are accepted ONLY through FilmFreeway.
• Multiple submissions must be provided as individual submissions.
• Works in progress will NOT be considered.
• Submission fees are not refundable.
• All submissions must be received by the final deadline - May 5, 2023.
• By submitting a film to PTFF, you agree that you have secured all necessary rights for both picture and sound, and the exhibition will not violate or infringe upon any rights.
