Opportunity description

UNFPA is offering a 6-month, onsite, full-time national volunteer assignment as a Programme Administrative Associate in Port Sudan, Sudan. The volunteer will support the effective implementation of UNFPA programme activities by performing standard administrative, financial, and procurement tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of operational guidelines and ensure smooth coordination between programme teams and partners. National UN Specialist Volunteers are entitled to a Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance of 1,597.25 USD, a Danger and Hardship Differential of 575 USD, free medical and life insurance, and annual leave. The United Nations does not charge any application or processing fees.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and logistical support to programme teams, including travel arrangements and event coordination.

  • Assist in tracking programme implementation activities and follow-up on deliverables and field missions.

  • Support the preparation of requisitions, follow-up on payments, and maintain financial records.

  • Maintain organized files for programme activities, partner agreements, and project documents.

  • Liaise with implementing partners for administrative needs, agreement processing, and logistical support.

  • Assist in collecting and consolidating data for programme reports and donor submissions.

  • Examine and process payroll entitlements, including ensuring overtime calculations are submitted.

  • Support the hiring and onboarding of consultants according to UNFPA rules.

  • Conduct spot checks and field monitoring visits to implementing partners.

  • Provide support during audits by compiling required documents and responding to queries.

Eligibility criteria

  • Must be a national, legal resident, or hold refugee status in Sudan.

  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in administration, finance, or office management.

  • Must hold a Secondary education degree.

  • Applicants must be between 18 and 80 years of age.

  • Required languages are Fluent Arabic and Native-level English.

  • Proficiency in office software applications, web-based management, and ERP financial systems is required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
