Opportunity description
UNV offers a volunteer opportunity to work as a program analyst in South Sudan starting from 15/07/2024 for 12 months with the possibility of an extension. The position holder will establish program/project coordination. S/he is expected to perform functions related to IFAD’s mandate of improving rural foods security and nutrition and overall efforts by IFAD to increase capacity-building and sustainable development in developing countries.
Duties & responsibilities
You will perform the following tasks:
- Country Office Support:
- Analytical support and strategic guidance for program planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting.
- Provide support in reviewing the Annual Work Plans and Budgets s, analysis of and inputs to budget preparation, monitoring expenditures and grant portfolios, and providing additional support as requested.
- Country Programme Support:
- Enhance the technical quality of IFAD country activities by supporting program and project design, supervision, and implementation and completion (PCR) activities.
- Provide substantive contributions to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
- Participate in capacity-building activities including support to the identification, analysis, documentation, harmonization, and dissemination of both national and local issues.
- Support To Partnership Building:
- Support the identification of potential partners, development initiatives, and best practices.
- Analyze findings in comparison with the assigned Fund strategies, identifying potential opportunities.
- Support To Policy Development/Knowledge Management:
- Participate in relevant policy meetings and events of interest to IFAD's target groups.
- Gather evidenced-based data from projects in support of linking the realities on the ground and the voices of the poor with the policies and programs of the government.
- Put in place a fully functioning M&E system and support capacity building and transfer of knowledge to MAFS, IAs, state, and local levels.
- Reporting:
- Supporting communications with headquarters as well as drafting regular and periodic reports and documents.
- Compiles data for and drafts the country office half-yearly and annual reports including lessons learned from design and implementation support experience.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Rural Development, Natural Resources Management, Agriculture, Project Management, Economics, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship or related fields from a recognized institution.
- 3 years of experience in managerial / project management experience is required at the national or international level.
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages.
- Experience in handling of web-based management systems.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating with and reporting on the work of diverse teams.
- Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment and be aged 27 - 80.
