Opportunity description
UNV offers a volunteer opportunity in Morocco for the position of program & financial assistant which will be expected to start on 17/04/2023 for a period of 12 months. Through this volunteer, you will support the effective management of UN Women programs in the UN Women Morocco CO by contributing to the program design, formulation, implementation, and evaluation. You will work in close collaboration with the program and operations team, UN Women HQ staff, Government officials, and civil society to ensure a successful UN Women program.
Duties & responsibilities
You will undertake the following tasks:
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the formulation and management of programs
- Provide administrative support in the preparation of program work plans, budgets, and proposals on program implementation arrangements.
- Prepare information for the audit of programs/ projects and support the implementation of audit recommendations.
- Undertake all logistical, administrative and financial arrangements for the organization for meetings, workshops, events, and missions.
- Make travel arrangements for the Programme Team, including travel requisitions and claims.
- Provide support to the financial management of the Programme Unit
- Create projects in Quantum, prepare budget revisions, and revise project awards and status.
- Provide administrative support in monitoring budget preparation and the finances of pro-grammes/projects, including the finalization of FACE forms.
- Review financial reports.
- Maintain internal expenditures control system.
- Review and verify financial transactions, activities, and documentation.
- Taking corrective actions as needed and reporting any unusual activities.
- Monitor proper follow-up of advances to implementing partners, and review their financial reports together with project managers.
- Facilitate knowledge-building and knowledge sharing:
- Provide administrative support synthesis of lessons learned and best practices related to program management.
- Provide administrative support to the organization of training for the office staff and partners on program-related issues.
- Furthermore, you are required to:
- Strengthen your knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications.
- Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in Morocco.
- Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.
- Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in International Development, International Relations, Political Sciences, Economics, Finance, or Equivalent.
- 1 year of experience in International Development programs.
- Be aged 18 - 26.
- A national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
- Computer skills: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Arabic, Level: Working knowledge.
- Fluent in French and English.
- A high degree of autonomy, personal initiative, and ability to take ownership.
- Willingness to accept wide responsibilities and ability to work independently.
- Commitment to continuous learning and ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
- Effective organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and monitor (own) work.
- Ability to work under pressure, teamwork, and respect for diversity.
- Good spoken and written communication skills.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and ability and willingness to operate independently in austere, remote, and potentially hazardous environments.
- Experience within an international organization would be an asset.
