Fully Funded Residency for Young Catalan and Palestinian Playwrights from BE(P)ART in Spain

BE(P)ART is pleased to announce a new residency with a focus this time on the Arab world and specifically on Palestine literature and culture. It is opening a call for applications to participate in a literary residency in Catalonia in April 13 to 20, 2023, available to six young Catalan and Palestinian playwrights. The residency seeks to support creative work in an interactive framework across the shores of the Mediterranean while fostering Catalan and Palestinian literature and culture.

If you get this opportunity, you will have:

• Stay of 7 nights at the Faberllull d’Olot Residency with accommodation and full board.
• Round trip travel.
• Travel Insurance (if applicable).
• Participation in a dramatized reading and a joint publication with translations into Catalan and Arabic.
• Meetings with professionals in the field.

You should follow the following criteria: 

• Palestinian and Catalan-language playwrights under the age of 35.
• Candidates must have at least one work previously performed. 
• Total availability during the days the residency takes place.
• Availability to participate in other activities that may be organized around the residency and that will be communicated in advance.
• Transfer of rights to translate and publish an excerpt from the work for non-commercial purposes.

Evaluation Process:

Your application will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

• Literary quality of the work.
• Topicality of the issues considered and innovation in language.
• How the work has been received.
• The interest of the project presented.

BE (P)ART. Grow With Arts is a European cultural project that aspires to bring young people, artists, and their works closer together. The aim of the project is to support the European literary sector and its cultural agents (emerging writers, festivals, publishers, etc.) to reach young audiences by providing them with a new methodology based on a participatory approach, international and European networking, new career opportunities, exchange, and knowledge.
