Devpost invites all developers to a workshop and a chance to participate in a competition; Snap Developer Challenge 2021. It’s a great opportunity for developers to grow their audience connecting with millions of Snapchatters. As it is calling on you to build something that exemplifies the best of Snapchat, using at least one of many Snap Kit developer tools. This challenge is searching for the best uses of Snap Kit across five categories:
- Best App - Express Themselves:
- This award aims to see developers create experiences that drive Snapchatters to express themselves in fun and delightful new ways.
- Best App - Live in the Moment:
- Stop planning and start doing. This award is for developers who can light a fire under the community.
- Best App - Learn About the World:
- This award aims to see a user experience that teaches Snapchatters something new about the world around them around an important subject.
- Best App - Have Fun Together:
- This award is for the best example of an entertaining experience that promotes interaction with friends.
- Community MVP:
- Snapchat is about being Smart, Kind, and Creative. This award is for an individual who lives its values and supports the developer community.
Benefits
If you win this competition, you will have the following prizes:
- For Community MVP Category:
- 1,000 USD.
- Social Promo.
- For all other Categories:
- 2,500 USD
- Social Promo.
Eligibility criteria
You must meet the following criteria:
- Individuals who are at least the age of majority where they reside as of the time of entry.
- Teams of eligible individuals and organizations (including corporations, not-for-profit corporations and other nonprofit organizations, limited liability companies, partnerships, and other legal entities) that exist and have been organized or incorporated at the time of entry.
- Individuals may join more than one Team or Organization.
- Also, Individual who is part of a Team or Organization may also enter the Hackathon on an individual basis.
- If a Team or Organization is entering the Hackathon, they must appoint and authorize one individual to represent, act, and enter a Submission, on their behalf.
- The Hackathon is not open to:
- Individuals who are residents of, or organizations domiciled in, a country, state, province, or territory where the laws of the United States or local law prohibits participating or receiving a prize in the Hackathon.
- Organizations and individuals involved with the design, production, paid promotion, execution, or distribution of the Hackathon.
- Employees, representatives, and agents of such Promotion Entities, and all members of their immediate family or household.
- Individuals who are employed as government officials.
- An Entrant may submit more than one Submission, however, each submission must be unique and substantially different from each of the Entrant’s other Submissions.
- Include a demonstration video of your Project which should consider the following points:
- A 3-minute demo video (hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, or Youku).
- Must not include third-party trademarks, or copyrighted music, or other material unless the Entrant has permission to use such material.
- A submitted project must run on at least one of the platforms such as a smartphone, tablet, or Web browser.
- Projects must be either newly created by the Entrant or, if the Project existed prior to the Hackathon Submission Period, must have integrated a Snap SDK during the Hackathon Submission Period.
- Be the original work of the submitter, and not violate the IP rights of any other person or entity.
Please note:
- An eligible individual can win one (1) Community MVP prize and one (1) Project Prize.

- Submission Period: September 7, 2021, to November 2, 2021.
- Judging Period: November 2, 2021, to November 17, 2021.
- Winners Announced: On or around November 19, 2021.
