Opportunity description

ESCWA, the United Nations Statistics Division and the Arab Institute for Training and Research on Statistics are organizing a regional workshop to help employees of national statistics offices acquire knowledge and skills to deepen their understanding of statistical business registers (SBRs).

Benefits

The workshop aims to develop the following capacities among the participating countries:

  • Increased knowledge regarding the development, maintenance and use of SBRs, including the global assessment questionnaire, the implementation of the revised classifications in SBRs, the integration of geospatial information, integration of business and trade, and the unique identifiers for businesses.
  • Knowledge on the Maturity Model for SBRs, including the use of the accompanying toolkit to conduct self‐assessments on the status of development of business registers and to identify areas of improvement.


Eligibility criteria

The applicant should have the desire to know:

  • Increased knowledge regarding the development, maintenance and use of SBRs.

About ESCWA:

ESCWA was established in 1973, it is one of five regional commissions under the jurisdiction of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The role of the Commission is to promote the economic and social development of Western Asia through regional and subregional cooperation and integration. It plays a critical role in promoting a holistic approach to development in their regions and balancing the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development in their member States.
