Opportunity description
UNV offers an online volunteer opportunity for two weeks within various scientific research studies related to the environment that are undertaken in collaboration with MDF. It requires the support of two highly motivated online volunteers with a background in environmental engineering and GIS to conduct a survey and support an environmental impact assessment report on a conservation area in the Huon District of Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. By accurately analyzing environmental data, potential environmental damage can be mitigated, climate change impacts can be addressed, and informed decisions can be made to ensure the area's long-term sustainability and resilience.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Conduct a survey and support an environmental impact assessment report on a conservation area in the Huon District of Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea.
- Support in the interpretation of maps, conducting literature reviews, and interpreting water and soil laboratory reports.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- PhD students in a relevant discipline.
- A degree in environmental engineering and GIS.
- Ability to conduct an environmental impact assessment.
- Ability to write an environmental impact assessment report.
- Fluent in English.
- Ability to work 16 - 20 hours per week.
Volunteer Perks:
