Opportunity description

TaDA – Textile and Design Alliance is a cultural initiative supported by the Swiss cantons of St. Gallen, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, and Thurgau. The program aims to foster creative and experimental engagement with the textile and design culture of Eastern Switzerland through collaboration between artists and regional industrial and research institutions.

The TaDA Artist-in-Residence Programme is held twice a year in Eastern Switzerland and offers six local and international artists and creatives the opportunity to develop projects in areas such as:

  • Design

  • Textile Art

  • Visual Arts

  • Architecture

  • Literature

  • Performing Arts

  • Interdisciplinary Projects

The residency includes direct collaboration with leading textile companies and institutions in the region, allowing residents to carry out artistic or applied research projects using specialized technical infrastructure.

Residency Periods for 2026:

  • April to June 2026

  • September to November 2026

Application Deadline:

  • September 15, 2025, at 23:59 CEST

  • Results will be announced in early December 2025

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants must work in one of the following areas: design, textile design, architecture, art, literature, performing arts, or interdisciplinary projects

  • A strong interest in textile culture, industry, and the local Swiss context is required

  • Basic technical knowledge of textile production is considered an advantage

  • Good command of English or German

  • Applicants must submit a project proposal with an experimental and collaborative approach, connected to the TaDA partner network
