Poetry Competition and a Chance to Win €1,000 from Caterpillar Poetry

Caterpillar Poetry is calling the talented writers and poets for participating in poetry competition; the 2022 Caterpillar Poetry Prize. This is an annual prize for an unpublished poem written by an adult for children aged 7–11, which simply aims to spur you on to write, to find your own voice as a writer. Keep writing, keep reading, and you will discover the power of your own voice. If you have written a poem you think would appeal to children, this is a good chance to participate in the competition and win the prize.

If you win this competition, you will have:

• €1,000.
• Publication in the summer issue of The Caterpillar.

You should follow the following criteria:

• The Prize is open to anyone over 16.
• The work is original and previously unpublished.
• The poems can be on any subject.
• The entry fee is €14 per poem.
• Entries must be in English, typed, with each entry on a new sheet.
• You can enter as many poems as you like.
• There is a line limit of 150. 

Please note: The winner will be announced in June 2022.

About Caterpillar Poetry: 

The Caterpillar is a magazine of poems, stories and art, created by grown-ups for children. It is the younger sibling of The Moth, an art & literature magazine for grown-ups. It is for kids between the ages of 7 and 11(ish), appears four times a year ‒ in March, June, September, and December ‒ and is jam-packed full of entertainment.
