Bath Short Story Award is pleased to announce its tenth yearly international short story award, which is open now for entries for adult or young adult readers, to submit their stories on any topic.
Benefits
If you are among the winners, you will have one of the following prizes:
- First prize: £1200
- Second prize: £300
- Third prize: £100
- The Acorn Award for unpublished writers of fiction: £100
- £50 in book vouchers donated by Mr. B’s Emporium of Books, Bath
- All short-listed stories will be published in our 2024 Bath Short Story Anthology.
Eligibility criteria
You should follow the following terms:
- Stories can be on any theme or subject.
- Your work must be original and written in English.
- They must also be for adult or young adult readers.
- Non-fiction and fiction written for children under 13 years are not eligible.
- You must be 16 years or over.
- Maximum length is 2,200 words.
- Entries should be typed, double or 1.5-spaced, in a plain legible font (Pt 12).
- There is no limit to the number of entries but there is a fee of £9 for each story submitted.
- Entries must not have been previously published in print or online, been broadcast, or won a prize.
- No refunds can be made.
About Bath Short Story Award:
The International Bath Short Story Award is currently organized by Jude Higgins, Jane Riekemann, and Alison Woodhouse. Launched in 2012 the BSSA has rapidly become established as one of the prominent short story competitions in the UK receiving over fifteen hundred worldwide entries each year and producing a yearly anthology of short-listed and winning authors.
