The Mogford is offering Food and Drink short story writing competition to writers across the globe.
Benefits
- The prize awards £10,000 to the best short story.
- Three runners up also receive awards of £250 and all shortlisted entrants have their stories published on the Mogford Prize website.
Eligibility criteria
- The prize is open to writers of any nationality who are over 18 years of age at the closing date of the competition.
- Stories may have a maximum of 2,500 words not including the title and should not have been previously published anywhere (this includes self-publication, publication on websites, blogs and online forums as well as broadcast via TV, radio or podcast).
- All stories should be in English and the sole work on the entrant.
- Short fiction that places food and/or drink at the centre of the narrative.
- The story could, for example, be about a food-related crime or intrigue; a chance meeting over a drink; a life-changing conversation over dinner; or perhaps the details of a relationship explored through food.
About The Mogford Prize:
The Mogford Prize for Food and Drink Writing is an annual short story competition open to writers across the globe. The prize awards £10,000 to the best short story that has food and drink at its heart. Three runners up also receive awards of £250 and all shortlisted entrants have their stories published on the Mogford Prize website and in linen-bound booklets that feature in The Oxford Collection’s five star hotels and restaurants in Oxford, UK.
