Opportunity description
The Moth, an international arts and literature magazine based in Ireland, announces The Moth Nature Writing Prize 2025. The competition is open to anyone over the age of 16.
The Moth Nature Writing Prize aims to encourage and celebrate the art of nature writing. It is awarded annually to unpublished pieces of prose or poetry which best combine exceptional literary merit with an exploration of the writers’ relationship with the natural world.
Entry Fee: 15 € per entry.
Benefits
- 1st prize: 1,000 € and a week at The Moth Retreat in Ireland.
- 2nd prize: 500 €.
- 3rd prize: 250 €.
Eligibility criteria
Entries must be unpublished and the sole work of the entrant, not exceeding 4,000 words. Entries should combine literary merit with an exploration of the writer's relationship with the natural world.
