FilmFreeway announces the New Haven Documentary Film Festival and Competition, created to bring filmmakers and film lovers together. The festival encourages local directors, editors, and cinematographers, by showcasing their work and creating a collaborative space for the community and artists to participate in while developing the next generation of filmmakers. The festival seeks films that have been made in a distinctive way in order to attract visitors to the festival and seeks to enhance collaboration between documentary filmmakers from the greater New Haven, Connecticut area, and their peers from around the world.
Benefits
- The festival will present a series of seminars covering many new topics by elite local and national experts in these topics, targeting both aspiring and experienced filmmakers.
- Best Documentary Short Film, Best Editing, and Best Cinematography will receive the Golden Slice Award.
- The first-place winner will receive a set of tools, a cash prize, and a certificate of appreciation in addition to many other gifts.
- The second place winner will receive a cash prize, a certificate of appreciation in addition to many other gifts.
- The third-place winner will receive a cash prize and a valuable gift.
Eligibility criteria
- Entrants must have been made after January 1, 2022.
- For undergraduate participants, they must have started their documentary prior to graduation and completed it within six months of graduation.
- The competition encourages collective efforts (multiple producers, directors, etc.) but the documentary must have been produced by a student or students who meet the admission criteria.
- This screening should be the first show of the movie. (With the exception of student films, which may have already been shown in their educational institutions).
- The application fee is non-refundable.
- By participating in the competition, you agree to have your film shown in NHdocs and agree to the above rules and conditions.
- Please do not participate in the competition if your film does not meet or does not agree with the above requirements.
