Opportunity description
Hacker Earth offers a workshop and a chance to participate in a competition about the theme; sustainability. From enhancing energy efficiency and reducing global emissions to making cities “smarter,” the Internet of Things (IoT) and sustainability are natural partners, so please focus your submissions on this combination. This hackathon aims to get project proposals that address one or more environmental challenges all face across the globe today using Project AIR. Be creative, and submit your solution that should fall into one of the five (5) sub-theme categories:
- Hack for Smart Energy
- Hack for Smart Water
- Hack for Food Production
- Hack for Pollution
- Hack for Transportation

If you win this competition, you will get one of the following prizes:
- First Place: USD 10,000.
- Second Place: USD 5,000.
- Third Place: USD 2,500.
- Special Prizes:
- Most Creative Submission: USD 1,000.
- CTO Award: USD 1,000.

Eligibility criteria
You must follow these rules:
- This is an online hackathon and you can participate from anywhere.
- For developers and anyone who can code and is interested in IoT, edge analytics, and environmental sustainability use cases.
- You can register for the hackathon as an individual or as a team of up to five (5) individuals.
- The hackathon consists of 2 phases- Ideation Phase and Development Phase.
- You/your team can submit as many submissions as you would like in each phase of the hackathon. However, your last submission will be the solution that will be evaluated by the judges and eligible to win prizes.
- Winners will be selected based on a point system awarded for each submission.
- You are expected to come up with new and innovative ideas, and any idea used from a third party and/or site will result in a disqualification of your submission.
- Your solution must be developed entirely during the duration of the hackathon.
- You may use open source libraries in your solution in accordance with the TIBCO LABS IoT and Sustainability Hackathon Rules.
- By participating in the hackathon you agree to the rules and conditions.
Timeline:
- The Ideation phase starts: On Nov 15, 2021, and ends on Jan 14, 2022.
- The Development Phase starts: On Jan 20, 2022, and ends on Jan 29, 2022.
- Announcement of the winners of the ideation phase: On Jan 19, 2022.
- Announcement of the winners of the development phase: On Feb 7, 2022.
