Opportunity description
UNV announces a volunteer opportunity in the feild of translation. OHCHR Switzerland is seeking five online volunteers to offer support in translating its pledge submission form from English into five remaining UN languages which are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. This task aims to improve the accuracy and quality of the documents/forms and to effectively communicate and advocate for human rights.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Translate OHCHR Switzerland’s Pledge submission form – Human Rights from English into one of the five official UN languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian or Spanish.
- Ensure translations are concise, in line with OHCHR communications guidelines, and fit the audience.
- Provide feedback and suggestions to improve the quality of the documents.
- Follow OHCHR's style guide and branding guidelines.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Fluency in English and at least one other UN language.
- Familiarity with human rights technical terms.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Previous copyediting or translation experience.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Fluent in English and Arabic language.
- Fluent in Chinese and French language.
- Fluent in Russian and Spanish language.
- Ability to work 6 - 10 hours per week.
