Opportunity description
UNV offers a volunteer opportunity in Iraq as a receptionist and announces its need for the efforts of two volunteers to assist in the reception of the asylum-seekers and refugees at the center with attention to the age, gender, and diversity (AGD) approach and identifying vulnerability cases that may require fast tracking throughout the counseling process. Depending on the needs and on the request of the supervisor, may need to support with other functions including filling activities, scheduling refugees, conducting registration interviews, etc.
Duties & responsibilities
- Coordinate with the registration team leader to ensure timely access to the daily scheduled manifest.
- Identify and process the admission of those visiting the center in an organized manner respecting age, gender, and diversity sensitivity.
- Identify vulnerable individuals and coordinate with the team leader to fast-track them throughout the process in line with the existing reception SOP.
- Ensure the integrity of the admission process by implementing first-in, first-served except the fast-track cases approved by the team leader and in line with the SOP.
- Collect copies of documents from refugees and asylum-seekers before their interview.
- Scan all documents collected from refugees and asylum seekers and upload it in the relevant platform in line with the filling SOP.
- Counsel asylum seekers and refugees on the registration process and what to expect during the registration process.
- Ensure only those who have appointments are admitted to the registration site.
- Prepare daily reception report for the registration team leader.
- Support with other Registration activities when it’s required.
- Perform any other support tasks as required.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Political Science, Social Science, Business and Administration, International Relations, or Information Management.
- 3 years of experience in excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, and reporting skills.
- Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development.
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, among others), email, and internet; and familiarity with database management.
- Fluent in English, and Arabic languages.
- Self-motivated, and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Communication and organizational awareness.
- Commitment to Continuous Learning.
Please note: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment and be aged 27 - 80.
