Opportunity description

UN Women announces an online volunteer opportunity in media monitoring and reporting in Jordan. UN Women Jordan is committed to promoting gender equality and women's empowerment in Jordan through advocacy, partnership, and visibility. As part of its strategic communications efforts, UN Women monitors and analyzes media coverage to better understand the visibility, reach, and perception of its work. This includes tracking news mentions, press releases, media impact, and online opinions in both Arabic and English. The volunteer's online contribution will support donor-oriented communications and impact measurement. They will gain practical experience in media monitoring and reporting in a UN environment, and gain an enhanced understanding of visibility metrics, public perception tracking, and donor-oriented reporting.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Online volunteers will support the organization's efforts to enhance its media presence.
  • UN Women Jordan is seeking 10 online volunteers to support its media efforts and enhance its presence in:
    • Preparing a news report for all press releases issued by UN Women Jordan between January 2024 and the present (news in Arabic and English).
    • Monitoring and collecting daily media mentions and press coverage (local and international).
    • Preparing a weekly media digest with links and brief commentary.
    • Preparing quarterly presence reports (for the first quarter of 2025 and beyond).

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • Previous experience in media monitoring, journalism, communications, or any related field.
  • Proficient writing skills in English.
  • Preferably fluent in Arabic.
  • Familiarity with online media monitoring tools (e.g., Google Alerts and TalkWalker).
  • Experience in using spreadsheets/Google Docs and digital data organization.
  • Ability to compile information and provide clear reports on trends and media tone.
  • Preferably, have previous experience working with the United Nations or any international organization.
