Opportunity description
The United Nations Volunteers program offers a volunteer opportunity in the program’s playing area in Jordan. About 2,000 refugees go to the Amman Khalda registration center daily where they need support related to age, gender and diversity in line with UNHCR’s Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) and Accountability to Affected Persons (AAP) policy. The office is designed to meet the diverse needs of refugees coming for registration and resettlement. Recognizing the importance of play in a child's growth and development and to continue meeting the challenge of caring for children accompanying their parents, a children's play area was created so that children can participate in play and various activities while their parents receive the necessary support. The play area is not only a source of fun for children, but it is also considered a safe and protected space for children, instilling in them a sense of security amid their difficult circumstances. It also aims to:
- Providing engaging entertainment suitable for children between the ages of 3 and 13, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Ensuring a smooth and confidential experience for parents by providing an appropriate environment for conducting private interviews, free of any disturbances or interruptions.
- Implement comprehensive safety measures and address any potential safeguarding concerns.
- Enabling parents to fully participate in and benefit from the services available to them without the burden of childcare, and providing a safe and supervised space for their children during their visit.
