Opportunity description
The United Nations Volunteers program offers a volunteer opportunity as an Assistant to the Communications Officer in Lebanon. This opportunity will be located at the UNEP Regional Office for West Asia, Beirut Duty Station, and aims to support the UNEP Regional Office for West Asia in strengthening its capacity and expertise in communications and social media content and management to support its work in the region.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Implementation of UNEP's multilingual social media strategy.
- Prepare a monthly social media calendar in collaboration with your communications colleagues and other colleagues.
- Prepare a variety of social media to support campaign initiatives.
- Formulate a monthly and quarterly social media report that reflects the results and impact of social media activities.
- Work with communications peers and colleagues across the office and across UNEP and the UN system, to ensure that UNEP's work is coordinated, scaled up and highly visible on social media platforms.
- Collect and create data necessary to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables, and reports using data visualization techniques.
- Perform any other duties assigned to you.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Be between 27 and 80 years old
- Be a citizen or legal resident of the country of opportunity.
- 4 years of experience in social media, websites, digital communication, marketing, or any related field.
- Experience managing multilingual social media accounts.
- Preferably, you must have a degree in graphic design.
- It is preferable to have video making and editing skills.
- Preferably have experience working in a science-focused organization.
- Preferably have experience in project management, data analysis, and implementation.
- Excellent writing and reporting skills in English and Arabic.
- Accuracy and attention to detail in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- High personal skills.
- Cultural and social sensitivity.
- Ability to work comprehensively and collaboratively with a range of partners and authorities at different levels.
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national staff.
- Good computer knowledge in general, and proficiency in working on various MS Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Familiarity with database administration.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Sound security awareness.
- You will be responsible for arranging your own accommodation and other living essentials.
