United Nations Volunteers programme is offering a volunteer opportunity in Jordan: Digital Media Associate.
Duration:
11 months (with possibility of extension)
Duties & responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of the UN Jordan social media plan;
- Create content (photos, contests, campaigns, audio, video, infographics, etc.)
- Maintain social media calendar and content plans of content themes and all upcoming coverage schedules according to the calendar;
- Website update and content management;
- Manage and work to continuously improve the content of the UN Jordan website in collaboration with the UN Communication Group.
- Support in generating compelling digital advocacy content and newsletters;
- Design posters, quote cards, event save-the-dates, digital banners, etc.
- Provide coordination support in the development and implementation of campaigns and events.
- Track and monitor print and social media and report relevant information.
- Maintain library/ database of reference materials, photos, and digital assets;
- Provide administrative support in maintaining the day-to-day activities of the Communications Unit.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Eligibility criteria
Age: 18 - 26
Nationality: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
Required experience:
- 2 years of experience in social media, online journalism, and digital communications;
- Experience in developing and implementing social media plans and campaigns;
- Experience in writing, editing, content production, and information dissemination for online audiences;
- Experience in the use of the full MS Office package (particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
- Experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and In Design to produce high-quality multi-media social media content.
- Good understanding of major digital platforms and proven experience in strategic social media outreach at the international level;
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective social media strategies and campaigns
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Strong editorial judgment
- Working knowledge of Canva, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, other design apps, and software
- Demonstrated event planning skills.

Required education level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent in journalism, communications, media studies, political and social sciences, economics, international relations, law, marketing, public and business administration, or any other relevant field.
