Opportunity description

United Nations Volunteers programme is offering a volunteer opportunity in Saudi Arabia: Gender & Reproductive Health and Rights Officer.

Duration:

12 months (with possibility of extension)


Duties & responsibilities

  • Ensures quality of programme / project design in the areas of gender & reproductive health and rights.
  • Keep abreast of new policy developments analyzing policy papers, strategy documents, national plans and development frameworks
  • Facilitating timely and efficient delivery of project inputs and addressing training needs of UNFPA personnel
  • Analyses and reports on programme and projects progress in terms of achieving results, using existing monitoring and evaluation tools and introducing new mechanisms and systems where necessary
  • Collect data and evidence and organizes knowledge about current and emerging gender & reproductive health and rights issues
  • Contribute substantially to advocacy and partnerships efforts of the GCC Office by preparing relevant documentation, i.e. concept notes, project summaries, conference papers
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the UNFPA office management.



Eligibility criteria

Age: 18 - 80 

Nationality: Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment.

Required experience:

  • 7 years in gender equality, reproductive health and rights, with experience in project/programme design and management particularly in the area of gender issues, GBV prevention and women empowerment.

  • Demonstrated experience working with governments, other UN Agencies, NGOs or donor institutions.
  • Working experience in policy analysis, and advocacy for gender, women empowerment and human rights in the
    context of sustainable development.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of the functioning of the UN and its policies will be an advantage.

Languages: 

  • English, Level: Fluent, Required 
  • Arabic, Level: Fluent, Required


Required education level: 

  • Master's degree in gender studies, reproductive health, laws as it related to gender and Gender Based Violence, public/community health, or other related social science discipline in relation with the position
