United Nations Volunteers programme is offering a volunteer opportunity: Associate Communication Officer in South Sudan.
Duration:
12 months (with possibility of extension)
Duties & responsibilities
- Contributes to the development of UNHCR’s social media strategy and coordinates its implementation.
- Prepares initials drafts of stories, press releases, news stories.
- Builds strong relationships with field offices and travels to the field locations to document UNHCR projects and activities.
- Monitors and moderates comments on social media posts, intervening as appropriate to answer questions.
- Monitors analytics and reports on the effectiveness of social media channels.
Eligibility criteria
Age: 27 - 80
Nationality: Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment.
Required experience:
- 3 years of experience in producing social media content and managing institutional accounts is required.
- Strong writing and editing skills are required.
- Experience writing articles and briefs is strongly desirable.
- Experience with content production, photo, video, graphic editing tools, is strongly desirable.
- Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing is desirable.
- Experience working in an international organization is desirable.
- Candidate should be self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision
Ability to work with tight deadlines. - Candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills
Languages:
- English, Level: Fluent, Required
Required education level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, History, Social Sciences, or other applicable field.
