Waterwalker Film Festival and a Chance to Win Great Prizes

Film Freeway is pleased to announce the events of the Waterwalker Film Festival in its 35 Years Running. This festival aims to raise public awareness and support for wilderness conservation by celebrating these films from around the world on canoeing, kayaking, various water activities, safety, conservation, and protection of the waterways. So, your Waterwalker film submissions must feature some kind of paddling activity.

If you participate in this event, you will have the chance to get awards in the following categories:

• Canadian Location
• Raft
• River Kayak
• Documentary
• Adventure
• Inspirational
• Canoe
• Best Environmental
• Sea Kayak
• SUP
• Amateur

Please note: Winners will receive an exclusive right to use “Waterwalker Winner” logo in their own marketing.

You should follow the following terms:

1. Entries can be submitted by professional or amateur filmmakers.
2. Entries can be of any duration in length and can be narrative, story, animated, or experimental art form.
3. Entries that do not feature paddling activities will be disqualified.
4. An entry will consist of a download link to an HD version of your film.
5. All entries must be accompanied by a brief (75-word maximum) summary of the film.
6. The “Short Film” category should be no longer than 8 minutes.
7. Filmmakers from any country may enter, but foreign language entries must be accompanied by an English translation.
8. Past entries may be resubmitted. Priority will be given to new entries for Category winners.
9. All entries will be viewed by the Festival Committee. 
10. Finalist films chosen by the Festival Committee are eligible to go on the festival tour.
11. Please supply some photos for promotional purposes.
12. The Festival Committee may use excerpts and photos of the entries for promotional purposes.
13. Entries will be copied by the Festival Committee for simulcast purposes on the festival tour.

Festival Timeline:

• Opening Date: December 13, 2021.
• April 1, 2022: Deadline.
• Notification Date: August 31, 2022.
• Event Date: October 1, 2022 – January 31, 2023.
