Opportunity description
UNV offers a volunteer opportunity in Lebanon to work as a web developer for 3 months with the possibility of extension. The Web Developer role focuses on the development, deployment, and maintenance of a diverse range of applications. This can include local applications, web applications, and mobile apps, along with the creation of reports, analytics, dashboards, and other solutions.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for performing the following functions:
- Develop websites and applications as per the UNICT strategy and ESCWA's needs, following security and data protection schemes.
- Maintains, upgrades, or enhances existing websites and applications and their integration to interrelated systems and program elements.
- Organizes and performs unit and integrated testing, designing, and utilizing test bases; assists users in acceptance testing.
- Interpret user requirements and translate these into systems specifications.
- Conducts research on new technologies as requested; keeps abreast of developments in the field; assists in testing and evaluating new products and technologies.
- Support in data visualization and data analytics (Business Intelligence) initiatives.
- Prepare technical and user documentation for products, as well as training materials and conduct technical presentations.
- Maintain functional specifications for websites, programs and procedures developed and/or modified.
- Provide support for deployed websites including version management, data recovery and deployment.
- Trains staff on completed products.
- Performs other related tasks as required per UN ICT or ESCWA’s strategy.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields.
- 1 year of experience in a multi-developer environment with knowledge of web development (Drupal core and custom modules, HTML, Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), and any JavaScript dialect/frameworks).
- Understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) concepts and principles.
- English, Level: Fluent.
- Arabic, Level: Working knowledge.
- Adaptability and flexibility.
- Judgment and decision-making skills.
- Planning and organizing skills.
- Professionalism and self-management.
Please note: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment and be aged 18 - 26.
