Your Big Year Challenge and a Chance to Get Internship

Your Big Year invites young leaders across Canada, the USA, and the world to a competition and a chance to join an online internship. About 100 youth (50 based in North America, 50 based worldwide) will be selected for the online 4-day Global Citizens Challenge. This is a dynamic program for youth designed to bridge cultural divides, increase engagement with the travel and tourism industry, and provide young people with a transformative, hands-on, and collaborative way to meet and work with peers from around the world.

If you are among the successful applicants, you will have:

1. Chance to create long-lasting friendships, learn new skills, and make a real impact. 
2. Interactive Zoom hangout calls with other participants.
3. Presentations.
4. Panel discussions from great speakers, and immersive brainstorming and collaborative work on the Miro Board. 
5. You can utilize the 3-month ‘Make an Impact’ course which ties everything into the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

You must follow the following criteria:

• Young people from Canada, the United States, and globally from ages 15-20 can apply for the Global Citizens Challenge.
• Parental permission is required for applicants under the age of 18.
• Nominations are accepted from educators, program leaders, and organizations to put forward youth who would be a good fit for this program.
• You should be commit approximately 10 hours over the 4-day duration of the program.
• The program runs entirely online and will use a variety of different virtual platforms, including Miro Board, Zoom video conferencing, and Crew. 
• You must be:
• Value the power of travel (even if you haven’t had the opportunity to travel yet).
• Passionate about making a change.
• Eager to learn about different cultures directly from peers with different backgrounds.
• Want to work with like-minded people.
• Wish to grow as a young professional in an online experience.
• Wish to grow personally through this opportunity, including understanding yourself and your passions.

What skills you will learn: 

• Building a toolkit of cultural awareness as a global citizen.
• How to work collaboratively with others from diverse backgrounds.
• Leadership and communication.
• Digital collaboration, and social impact.
• Learn about future career-building opportunities in tourism, hospitality directly from industry professionals.
