The residency supports entry level university students enrolled in designschools in Jordan working across all disciplines through 1-3-day residencyaccommodating 8-12 residents at a time. The programme is currently open forfirst and second year design school students, based in Jordan, creating a spacefor creative dialogue and national cultural artistic exchange. As a studio based residency, the focus is on the artisticprocess and the experimentation that results from working alongside otherartists, within Jordan’s cultural and sociopolitical context.In this morning residency artists meet and start gaining invaluable feedback and expanding theirnetwork of artists and professionals in Amman locally and internationally.Residents are provided with administrative, curatorial, and professionalsupport to explore and expand the scope of their artistic practice throughresearch, dialogue, and production of new projects. Public presentationopportunities include exhibitions in galleries and public space, open Studios,and the internship program, through which artists can introduce and shareresearch and work through artist talks, discussions, screenings, workshops, andperformances.Resident artists benefit from a community drivenprogram and ongoing dialogue with fellow residency artists through inter-studioworkshops, visits and activities, as well as monthly field trips. Residentsalso have the advantage of working alongside emerging and established Jordanianbased artists in unconventional facilities in Jordan. The program andfacilities are designed to form a community, foster the expansion, and exchangeof artistic and cultural practices, and provide artists with exposure to Jordan’sart scene.
