Program Overview
The Master’s Program in Medical Science gives students with a background in Audiology, Midwifery, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Radiology Nursing, or Speech and Language Pathology the possibility to achieve a Master of Medical Science degree.
The program aims at developing and preparing the student for advanced work, leadership, and innovation within public and private health care practice.

After fulfilling the course requirement, the student will be awarded a Master of Medical Science with a major in one of the following:
- Audiology
- Nursing

- Speech and Language Pathology
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the program, students must meet the general entry requirements for higher education in Sweden and have a degree in Occupational Therapy, Audiology, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Pathology, Nursing, Radiology Nursing, or equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree (180 credits).
English Language Requirements
- English proficiency, equivalent to English course 6/B from Swedish upper-secondary school is also a requirement.
- This is the equivalent of an overall IELTS score of 6.5 or a TOEFL score of 90.
- All students must prove they meet English language requirements by the deadline, to be considered for admission.
Selection Criteria
- Based on a total evaluation of the applicant’s academic merits including a motivation letter and a program-specific application profile.
- In the case of equal merits, the drawing of lots will be made. All merits claimed need to be verified by valid documents.
- Since the program is multidisciplinary it is necessary to obtain an equal distribution of students from the different main fields.
- In the selection, the number of admitted students will be as evenly distributed as possible. An equal number of places will therefore be offered to each main field.
- In cases where no main field can fill their places, they will be distributed among the other main fields concerning the number of qualified applicants from each of these fields.
Course Structure
This 2 years program consists of 120 credits, and is structured, with each course building upon the previous one.
During his studies, the student will acquire the knowledge and skills required to work in global health care and research context, through student-centered teaching and learning activities in a research-intensive academic environment.
While all courses include both classroom and online elements. The amount of classroom-based sessions varies from course to course ranging from a couple of sessions to weekly meetings.
Each course includes theory and methodology serving as the basis for in-depth studies in the student’s main field, not to mention that all teachers are also active in research.
There are also electives in this program that are available in the second and fourth semesters of the program.

The tuition fees for the Master’s in Medical Sciences are as follows:
Non-EU/EEA citizens
- First payment: USD 6,902
Citizens of a country outside of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland are required to pay tuition fees. The student pays one installment of the tuition fee in advance of each semester.
EU/EEA citizens and Switzerland
There are no tuition fees for citizens of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland.
Application fee
If the students are required to pay tuition fees, they are generally also required to pay an application fee of USD 89 when they apply at the University Admissions in Sweden website. The students pay one application fee regardless of how many programs or courses they apply to.
Scholarships
Lund University Global Scholarship program
The Lund University Global Scholarship program is a merit-based and selective scholarship targeted at top academic students from countries outside the EU/EEA.
Amount
Approximately SEK 15 million (€1.5 million / US $1.8 million) is awarded in scholarship grants each year.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for a scholarship you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Applicant must be a citizen of a country from outside the EU/EEA (and Switzerland) and is required to pay a tuition fee.
- Applicants have made a complete application for Bachelor's or Master's level studies at Lund University in a regular application round for a minimum of one semester of study (30 ECTS). Note that priority is given to students who have ranked a program at Lund University as the first choice in their application at universityadmissions.se.
