Opportunity description

Google is offering an Information Technology Internship opportunity for students from anywhere in the world in Zurich, Switzerland for 2019. Technical support for a technology company is a big task. 

About the Job:

As a member of the Information Technology team, you:

  • Will be the go-to person for Googlers' computer hardware and software needs, providing front-line user support for all of Google's internal tools and technologies. 
  • Troubleshoot, respond to inquiries, and find solutions to technical challenges. 
  • Will improve the user experience for Googlers by contributing to longer-term projects and documentation efforts. 
  • Are highly technical and are comfortable problem solving with multiple operating systems (e.g. OS X, Linux, Windows, etc.) and a range of devices (e.g. desktops/laptops, phone systems, video conferencing and various wireless devices, etc.). 
  • Will occasionally partner with various teams including Security, Networking and Infrastructure. 
  • Are a fast learner and a great communicator who can effectively support the IT needs of global offices of all sizes and Googlers of varying technical backgrounds. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Accommodate support for desktop/laptop computers, along with user access to corporate network and applications both on the network as well as through remote VPN access.
  2. Assist with moving equipment and migrating users to new systems or devices.
  3. Provide support for services such as office phones, mobile devices, video conferencing and remote access.
  4. Provide basic corporate network infrastructure and server assistance.
  5. Garner direct support for Google's corporate resources and applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently pursuing a Bachelor, Master or Ph.D. degree in computer science or a related technical field.
  2. Experience working in an IT department, in computer/technical support, or in another technically-focused service environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after completion of the internship and within 12-18 months of completing a Bachelor's or Master's degree, or at any stage in your Ph.D.
  2. Experience in troubleshooting applications in one or more of the following networked environments: Linux, Mac and/or Windows.
  3. Ability to configure, upgrade and relocate PC hardware, software and print devices. Demonstrated understanding of LAN/WAN environments.
  4. Effective organizational, communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
  5. Ability to commit to a 1-year internship program.

Benefits:
