Google is offering an internship opportunity in the People Analytics field in the summer of 2020 in the United States. This internship provides the opportunity to join a team of creative Google employees and learn more about the technology industry, as well as personal and professional development opportunities. The intern will work with a group of social scientists who conduct experimental, survey and archival research to inform people-related business decisions. Example content areas include, but are not limited to decision-making, diversity and inclusion, leadership, employee well-being, hiring, personality, longitudinal data analyses, and social networks. The recruitment team will choose the appropriate place for the applicant based on his CV and the preferences indicated in the application form.
Note: duration and start date of internship vary depending on the position.
Minimum qualifications:
- Advanced Doctoral (Ph.D.) student (i.e., you have completed three years of study and your comprehensive exams but have not completed your dissertation) who is enrolled in a program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Personality Psychology, Social Psychology or a related field.
- Experience designing, developing and conducting a rigorous survey and/or experimental research.
- Experience analyzing and manipulating data in R, SPSS, STATA and/or other statistical languages.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience conducting applied research in organizations.
- Experience with statistical analysis, including fundamentals (e.g., ANOVAs and/or regressions) and with one or more advanced approaches (e.g., factor analysis, network analysis, HLM, SEM).
- Experience using R for statistical analysis and data visualization.
- Topical expertise in one of the following areas: individual and team-level performance and productivity, individual differences (e.g., personality traits, behaviors, well-being), diversity and inclusion, selection and assessment, decision science and behavior change and/or quantitative text analysis.
- Returning to a degree program after the internship ends.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the People Analytics team to design and implement new studies, analyze data and report on results of research initiatives to a business audience.
- Conduct advanced statistical analysis (e.g., correlation, regression, factor analysis, T-test, ANOVA, SEM, HLM, LASSO, random forests) using survey and archival data with analyses ideally conducted in R.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to influence leaders to take action on the results.
- Write research briefs.
