Opportunity description

Hosco is looking for a Sales Coordinator of Conferences and Events to join the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira’s team in Dubai, UAE

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensures all requests are handled in the time frame set by the company.
  2. Maintains and manages the hotel’s Delphi database, reporting inconsistencies to the Director of Catering/Events.
  3. Updates all activities related to company account management in the system and adheres to MOHG standards.
  4. Contributes to the development of company sales initiatives by recommending, implementing and monitoring appropriate local activities.
  5. Constantly gathers, understands and applies the expanding knowledge of foods, beverages, technical equipment, and inter-departmental procedures to the sales and planning process with the client through the Director of Conference and Events
  6. Prepares all typed materials (proposals, contracts, banquet event orders, change forms and all other inter-departmental forms) accurately and thoroughly realizing the importance of such to ensure anticipated results.
  7. Mobilizes at all opportunities to cross-sell the brand worldwide.
  8. Constantly monitors the market and the competition and reports on threats and opportunities.
  9. Supports customer loyalty and property’s brand standards by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.
  10. Services customers in order to grow share of the account.
  11. Builds strong relationships with customers, guests and colleagues in order to gain a full understanding of their needs and work to serve them effectively
  12. Sets a positive example.
  13. Handles guest complaints and disputes.
  14. Ensures an excellent working relationship with all colleagues within the hotel.
  15. Effectively communicating with all other hotel departments, especially Reservations, Front Office, Sales, Culinary team and Banquet operation.
  16. Utilizes all available on the job training tools for colleagues.
  17. Establishes and maintains files, the data base of all accounts and assists the Director of Conference and Events in maintaining the account management system.
  18. Ensures that selling strategies are adhered to during negotiations and maximizes upselling opportunities whenever possible.
  19. Attends weekly and monthly department meetings and prepares meeting notes and feedback accordingly.
  20. Understands the overall market, including competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand and knows how to sell against them.
  21. Conducts sites inspection as required  
  22. Joint Sales calls with a team as required

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Degree or Higher National Diploma equivalent in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management.
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience working in a 5-star hotel environment within Conference and events.
  3. Strong administrative skills.
  4. Previous experience in the GCC an advantage.
  5. Must be excellent in using a computer and well versed in all computer applications.
  6. Well versed with Delphi.
  7. Charming and outgoing with excellent interpersonal skills for both external and internal customers.
  8. Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative.
  9. Positive attitude and a good communicator.
  10. Ability to plan and organize workload.
  11. Effective time management, communication and presentation skills.
  12. Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations.
  13. Able to solve problems.
  14. Commitment to delivering high standards of customer service.
  15. Fluent in English and an additional language will be an advantage.
