Job Opportunity at Dell Malaysia: Purchasing Advisor

Dell is offering a job opportunity as an Adviser in Purchasing to join the Materials and Procurement team in Malaysia for 2019. The Purchasing team drives the progress of Dell’s supply systems, as it leads strategic and operational commodity teams, while developing supplier strategy, long-range plans and the optimization of the global supply chain. Its remit includes setting delivery performance goals and implementing procurement initiatives and process improvements. The company also oversees the planning and obtaining of materials, components, equipment and services for all parts of the business, including checking requisitions, developing new supply sources and ensuring best quality at best value from third parties.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plans and releases purchase orders to secure materials and services on an "as needed" basis.
2. Identifies primary and secondary source suppliers for materials and services.
3. Submits Request for Quote (RFQ) and analyzes responses on Total Cost of Ownership basis.
4. Evaluates supplier’s performance (price, on-time delivery, quality, lead-time) and prepares feedback.
5. Develops and administers purchasing improvement programs.
6. Responsible for management and mitigation.
7. May monitor factory level execution according to allocations.
8. Develops long-term relationships with senior management of strategic suppliers for materials, services and technology.
9. May be responsible for supply chain management for integrated assemblies.
10. Resolves receiving and invoice discrepancies and manages applicable metrics within the job scope.
11. Maintains accuracy of procurement database and material return to suppliers on a timely basis (where applicable). 
12. With intermediate knowledge of their commodity area as well as advanced knowledge of financial and business analysis and leadership capabilities, develops and fosters cooperative relationships to analyze situations accurately and develop effective courses of action while conducting supplier business reviews, visiting suppliers, gaining process knowledge and investigating information on new technologies.
13. Acts as a key point of contact in organizes or leading cross-functional teams to manage cost of purchased materials against current standard cost while actively participating in events focused on product pull within the supply base and identification of new sources of materials and services when needed.
14. Reviews necessary invoices with accounts payable and proactively ensures the supply base is managing material levels while evaluating vendor performance and presenting findings to management.
15. Manages internal requirements, specifications, quality, delivery, cost, risk, data integrity, use of procurement tools, supplier portals and on-line auctions while overseeing the most effective return processes and costs for defective material.
16. Communicates to suppliers’ needs and expectations while providing feedback to the suppliers regarding their performance; identifies and develops qualified suppliers as appropriate.

Essential Requirements:

1. Typically requires 5+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3+ years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent experience.
2. Solid ability to track supply and availability of components, materials and or services.
