Opportunity description

The Norwegian Refugee Council is offering a job opportunity to a Syrian university graduate who has at least Bachelor’s degree in relevant university field (audit, finance, accounting, business administration) to work as Compliance Officer in Damascus.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct field visits to prepare the compliance reports
  2. Help facilitate corruption risk mapping annually across all offices and departments and all monitor that mitigations are being followed up with.
  3. Support the design of and deliver effective tools and training for countering corruption across NRC Syria
  4. Provide advice and guidance on internal compliance and anti-corruption, ensure compliance with anti-corruption policy and NRC procedures and guidelines
  5. Participate in and help develop innovative approaches to preventing corruption, wrong practices and breaches.
  6. Work with colleagues to incorporate best practice into risk and control activities
  7. Assist in monitoring the implementation of Securing Supporting Documents system, conducting regular spot checks and provide frequent report and feedback.
  8. Support the program and finance teams in audit preparation

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in relevant university field (audit, finance, accounting, business administration).
  2. Minimum 2 -3 years’ experience in  risk management.
  3. At least 1-year experience in an INGO preferably in an emergency or post-conflict setting
  4. A certificate of CIA, CPA will be preferable.
  5. Sufficient experience in control and quality management.
  6. Specific audit and/ or investigation experienced an advantage.
  7. Ability to respond to changing priorities.
  8. Ability to work independently on own initiative.
  9. Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training, mentoring and other formal and non-formal methods
  10. High level English and Arabic language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing)
  11. Excellent English report writing skills
  12. Analytic and computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)

  5. Willingness and ability to travel within Syria at short notice

Benefits:

  1. Contract period: Up to one year, renewable based on NRC fund and performance.
