Opportunity description

Amazon is looking for a motivated Learning Area Manager to join the team and work in Sydney, Australia for 2021. The Learning Area Manager will manage a team of training specialists including their deployment, development and productivity, in addition to ensuring that the work of the team and individuals is continually aligned to meet internal customer’s needs.



Duties & responsibilities

Employee Development:

  • Foster the development and growth of Amazon employees (i.e., mentoring, teaching, etc.).
  • Create and implement training programs for associates, managers, trainers and others.
  • Ensure that the Learning Department creates/updates accurate and useful information for training programs and other training documentation/aids.
  • Partners with process owners to ensure documentation standards are followed.
  • Facilitate training classes; communicate policies and procedures to managers and new employees as needed.
  • Actively seek, clarify and understand information from Operations and Area Managers that leads to an understanding and ownership of Fulfillment Center performance and goals and required YOY improvements and provide training assistance where necessary in order to achieve these goals.
  • Fully understand workflow, daily production goals and reports used to drive the business.
  • React quickly and efficiently to production imperatives, scheduling conflicts and network-wide rollouts.
  • Ensure and drive best practices standardization across all departments and sites.
  • Ensure network standard training programs are implemented and consistently utilized as required in the fulfilment centre.
  • May directly supervise other exempt leaders.

 Execution & Analysis:

  • Ensure that training is tracked and recorded, including progress and skill sets.
  • Manage training content and ensure execution of programs around Workforce Development and Associate Leadership Development.
  • Create, manage and update training content and track compliance to these training materials.
  • Administer methods for gathering and tracking training metrics.
  • Analyze and understand data to suggest improvements for training and operations.
  • Track and communicate Learning Department goals, assignments and progress locally and at a network level.
  • Take ongoing responsibility for ensuring that the Fulfilment Centre is operating safely and take immediate action to correct where necessary.
  • Owner of Forklift (Powered Industrial Truck - PIT) Training Program and maintains proper documentation related to PIT certification.
  • Track and manage site’s Continuous Improvement activities and manage communication through the Leadership Steering Committee.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement metrics at the site while ensuring Continuous Improvement activities are properly coordinated.
  • Analyse and track Trainer/Learning Coordinator Standard Work to ensure site is executing to the plan.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Degree in related field.
  2. 3+ years of related experience.
  3. Experience coaching and delivering messages related to performance.
  4. Experience interpreting data analytics.
  5. Proficiency in computer usage, email, MS Office Suite.
  6. Evidence of ability to prioritize, manage and complete projects with tight deadlines.
  7. Experience developing and implementing department goals and strategies based on broader organization goals.
  8. Experience working with and delivering training/information to peers, hourly associates as well as exempt personnel.
