Opportunity description
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) offers a job opportunity for a Basic Literacy and Numeracy Educator to join the team in Bekaa, Lebanon for 2020.
Major Responsibilities:
- Working hours: 35 hours per week divided as follows: 5 days a week (Each day, will teach 2 classes of 3.5 hours each).
- Provide effective teaching in basic literacy and numeracy to out of school children in IRC/UNHCR agreed upon locations.
- Implement child –centered teaching methods, and diverse teaching techniques to engage children.
- Enhance communication with parents through though proper communication channels with parents through Education Officers.
- Prepare teaching hand outs and activity sheets prior to sessions where appropriate.
- Assess children’s learning progress using assessment tools as provided by the IRC.
- All IRC staff are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies.
Qualifications:
- BA in Education, teaching diploma or certificate in related fields.
- Experience teaching classes to children.
- Experience with extremely vulnerable children is a plus.
- Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children.
- Able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
