Spotify is looking for a talented Senior Data Engineer with a strong back end/infrastructure development background to join the team and work in Stockholm, Sweden for 2020. The team provides a reliable data processing framework that enables other teams at Spotify to define their workflows using Big Query flavoured SQL. It also provides a low-latency data warehousing service that is a vital part of the experimentation platform at Spotify. It solves challenging technical problems that address business critical needs for teams all over Spotify, and engage in large open-source code bases (Apache Beam, Apache Calcite, ClickHouse), while working in a friendly, collaborative, and safe environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Take active part in discussions and knowledge sharing around metrics, SQL, data science and engineering in general.
2. Processing and query optimization.
3. ClickHouse cluster maintenance and operations.
4. API design with gRPC.
5. Use best practices in continuous integration and delivery.
6. Take an active part in the operational responsibilities for our own infrastructure.

Qualifications:

1. You have experience working with data engineering and a deep understanding of that problem space.
2. You have experience in designing and building maintainable backend services in Java.
3. You know and care about sound engineering practices like continuous delivery, defensive programming and automated testing.
4. You are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively (pairing and mobbing).
