Opportunity description

Erasmus Intern is offering an internship opportunity in the Spanish oasis of Los Molinos de Rio Aguas as bird census assistant in order to investigate the whole biodiversity of the area. The intern will work with Project Coordinator Dr. Richard Banham who will provide professional guidance and educational potential for the experience. The research can be extended to including invertebrates, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, flora, butterflies, etc. if the intern is interested. It will take from two to six months with a full-time commitment.

Core Responsibilities:

  • The intern will be required to look for previously color ringed birds and accurately record the details of them and their color ringing sequences. 
  • Assist in the ringing of new birds.
  • Taking pictures for recording the flora and fauna.
  • Take accurate daily species and bird counts in the surveyed area.
  • Logging the data into Microsoft Word and Excel files.

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of common UK/Western European birds.
  • Background in science, preferably in Ecology, Zoology or similar.
  • Familiarity with camera traps.
  • A laptop and digital camera or smartphone.
  • English: Independent User B2.
