Opportunity description

HCVT offers an internship opportunity as International Tax Intern - June 2022. This gives the chance to join a highly specialized professional services firm providing tax, audit, business management, mergers and acquisitions, and valuation services to private and public companies, business owners, high net worth individuals, and family offices across select industry niches.

Duties & responsibilities

As an Intern in the International Tax service line, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Learn and understand international tax rules and concepts applied to individuals, partnerships, and corporations.
  • Prepare federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts and its related income tax work papers.
  • Complete a variety of projects within engagement timeline and budget guidelines.
  • Learn and effectively utilize firm tax preparation software to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance the quality of service to clients.
  • Perform self-review of work.
  • Perform tax technical research assigned by supervisors.
  • Develop strong relationships with professionals.
  • Participate in firm training and activities.
  • Work with your buddy and performance manager on the professional development of both technical and soft skills.

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  1. On track to complete a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a master’s degree in accounting or taxation between December 2022 – July 2023.
  2. Available to work 40 hours a week from Mid-June through Mid-August.
  3. Minimum overall and accounting GPAs of 3.0.
  4. Active membership in Beta Alpha Psi or another campus accounting organization. 
  5. Strong technical aptitude and demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Exhibit leadership skills, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. 
  7. Able to learn in a fast-paced environment and receptive to feedback and coaching.
  8. Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and take initiative on projects.
  9. High attention to detail. 
  10. A positive attitude and is a team player mentality.
