Souq Fann is offering an internship opportunity as a Sourcing Intern. The Sourcing intern supports the Sourcing Officer with overseeing the process of selecting high-quality vendors and products for Souq Fann. A successful Sourcing Officer predicts the tastes of Souq Fann customers and works tirelessly to select the right products and vendors for the website.
Duties & responsibilities
Vendor Selection
- Finding, vetting, and evaluating potential vendors based on clearly-defined criteria.
- Ensuring agreements are signed with selected vendors and partners to promote their products on the platform.
- Maintaining strong relationships with vendors and providing them with technical and logistical support.
- Preparing for periodic internal meetings to get feedback from management about vendors and products.
Product Sourcing
- Evaluating and selecting products to be sold from each vendor, judging quality, price, artistic value, and potential customer appeal.
- Conducting quality assurance on products themselves to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Managing photos, data, and descriptions of products to be uploaded to the platform, in collaboration with web developers.
- Conduction quality assurance on website content in line with internal criteria and marketing goals.
Systems Management
- Maintaining and growing contact databases of potential vendors.
- Contributing to the overall sales and marketing strategy of the platform.
- Representing Souq Fann to vendors and other stakeholders when appropriate.
Eligibility criteria
Performing well in this position requires:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with many different types of people.
- Ability to manage vendor relationships with a diverse vendor community from throughout Jordan.
- Accuracy with information management, especially contact databases and process maps.
- Developed artistic taste and the ability to predict customer reaction to individual products.
- An appreciation of Jordan’s artistic and handicraft sector, and an understanding of relevant cultural and economic factors.
- Unwavering attention to detail and drive to succeed.
- Ability to learn and analyze new and conflicting information quickly and effectively.
A successful candidate will also have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in good standing from an accredited university in design, business, or similar.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, and comfortable with spoken English.
Note: This internship position is available immediately. The successful candidate will sign a three-month contract (1 August 2021 - 1 November 2021), with the potential possibility of extending the internship period. Transportation allowance will be provided.
