Opportunity description

Disney is announcing an internship opportunity at the Walt Disney Imagineering Ride in the USA.

Duties & responsibilities

  • You will work within the WDI studio that designs and develops rides that deliver memorable animated experiences to Disney guests around the world.
  • You may be involved in various stages of the project from concept, through detailed design and concept testing.
  • Throughout your internship, you will be exposed to experts in various engineering disciplines, who will give you the opportunity to:
    • Be part of an engineering team involved in ride system development, prototyping, simulation or testing.
    • Provide mechanical analysis of components and systems.
    • Assist in the design of mechanisms and machines.
    • Perform CAD modeling and processing.
    • Provide ride system interface information to other groups within Imagineering.

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • Ability to understand and implement basic mechanical system design and associated control system elements.
  • Ability to understand and adapt general engineering principles.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a college student or higher or have graduated within the past six months from an accredited college/university with a degree in mechanical, aerospace, mechatronics, or related field.
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation and CAD drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical components and manufacturing processes.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have completed one year of continuous work in a Disney internship or program.
  • Unrestricted work permit.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Proven understanding of SolidWorks software.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations in:
    • Statics and dynamics
    • Kinematics
    • Strength of matter
    • Energy
Preferred:
  • Basic understanding of modeling systems, vibrations, and vehicles.
  • Hands-on experience building and testing mechanisms, machines, or vehicles.
  • Strong understanding of Matlab.
  • This internship will be located in Orlando, Florida
  • The approximate dates for this internship are January 2025 through June 2025.
  • Limited housing opportunities will be available for Florida-based professional interns on the US campus.
