MPI is calling current college seniors and advanced-degree students as well as college graduates for full- and part-time internships. The MPI internship program lasts for four months and is divided into three cycles over the course of the year. You have the chance to select to join an internship in the research or communications field. You can provide support to MPI in one or more of the following program areas:
- Research Internships.
- U.S. Immigration.
- International Migration.
- U.S. Immigrant Integration.
- U.S. Human Services Initiative.
- Latin America and Caribbean Initiative.
- Editorial/Communications internships.
Duties & responsibilities
Research Internship:
Within each of the internship areas, your duties will include:
- Contribute to overall MPI research efforts, including through independent quantitative and/or qualitative research and policy analysis.
- Write paper drafts and prepare literature summaries.
- Update online tools on the MPI Data Hub.
- Provide administrative support to MPI on migration-related events.
- Attend and summarize congressional hearings and other relevant public and private events for MPI staff.
- Assist with partial coverage of the reception desk and other light administrative tasks.

Communications Internship:
- Work with MPI’s Communications team and at times with the Migration Information Source, as part of their general responsibilities in:
- Craft digital campaigns and graphics.
- Track media mentions and identify news outlets for targeted outreach.
- Edit multimedia audio and video.
- Carry out events-related activities.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Foreign language skills.
- Proficiency in key Office and other software programs, as well as, strong quantitative skills.
- Strong editorial, social media, and multimedia skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Minority applicants and/or applicants from immigrant or refugee backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
Internship Benefits:
- A stipend is offered to full-time interns.
- A prorated stipend is available for work part-time.
