Microsoft is announcing a job opportunity for a Senior Technical Graphic Designer in the United States. You must be passionate about solving complex technical challenges, thrive in a fast-paced work environment, and strive to push the boundaries of visual possibilities in games. You will serve as a bridge between artists and engineers, leveraging your deep technical expertise to ensure projects meet the highest quality standards. This position offers flexible working hours, with the ability to work from home up to two days per week.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Analyzing and optimizing game GPU/CPU performance and memory usage.
- Exploring new technologies through proof-of-concept prototyping to identify better solutions and enhance image quality and productivity in content production.
- Advocating for and implementing scalable solutions for cross-platform development, targeting both high- and low-spec devices.
- Acting as a liaison between the design/art and engineering teams by communicating artistic goals and technical practicalities to both parties.
- Defining and documenting technical standards and content specifications.
- Embodying the company's culture and values.

Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, graphic design, digital arts, technical arts, game design, or a related field, with at least 4 years of experience in technical arts or industrial design.
- Or a master's degree in computer science, graphic design, digital arts, technical arts, game design, or a related field, with at least 3 years of experience in technical arts or industrial design.
- Or equivalent experience.
- At least 4 years of experience using relevant software and packages (e.g., Autodesk Maya, MotionBuilder, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Creative Suite, SideFX Houdini, Zbrush, and Substance Suite).
- At least 3 years of experience working on rendering enhancements and technical arts systems in Unreal Engine.
- Meet security screening requirements of Microsoft, clients, and government agencies. These requirements include, but are not limited to, a Microsoft Cloud Knowledge Check: Passing a Microsoft Cloud Knowledge Check is required upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferably, you must have:
- A proven track record of successfully working effectively with multiple teams and stakeholders, managing conflicting priorities.
- The ability to learn specialized skills to support disciplines in arts/engineering teams.
- IC4 Certificate in Technical Arts
