Google announces a job opportunity for a BigQuery Software Engineer in the USA.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Writing product or system development code.
- Participating in design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide on available technologies.
- Reviewing and providing feedback on code developed by other developers to ensure best practices (e.g., method guidelines, code verification, accuracy, testability, efficiency).
- Contributing to educational content and adapting content based on product/software updates and user feedback.
- Triage and debug/track/resolve product or system issues by analyzing the sources of issues and their impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- 2 years of experience in software development in one or more programming languages (Java or C++), and in data structures/algorithms.
- 2 years of experience in building and developing infrastructure or distributed systems.
- Experience in SQL and extracting and manipulating data directly from databases.
Preferably have:
- Master's or PhD degree in computer science, or a related technical field.
- Experience in code and system validity, diagnostics, resolution, and software test engineering.
- Experience in research infrastructure and quality.
- Experience in building transaction processing (i.e. OLTP) or broader analytics (i.e. OLAP) systems.
- Experience in two or more database systems (e.g., internal databases, performance optimization, DBMS/RDBMS, data warehousing and integration, query optimization, indexing, memory management, etc.).
